Short Bio: Daphne grew up celebrating Chinese New Year with her family. The festival is nostalgic to her and brings back happy memories. However, she hasn’t celebrated it since she went to college and moved to a new city on her own. Now that she is settled, she wants to share this festival with her friends, many of whom are not familiar with Chinese New Year.

Goals:

1. Host a Chinese New Year party that gives a similar feeling to the ones in her childhood
2. Make sure her non-Chinese friends feel comfortable
3. Learn more about how to host a Chinese New Year party

Frustrations:

1. My parents never taught me how to host one
2. I don’t relate with some of the rituals my parents do
3. Felt like an observer and didn’t help organize CNY when she was younger
